Abigail Curtis

“Swim with Mike has provided me with a network of inspiring individuals. This foundation helped me receive my Bachelor's degree and is financially supporting me through my Master's. I appreciate this community and all that Swim with Mike has done for me.”

Abigail was active in ballet, cheerleading, soccer, t-ball and cross country. When she was twelve, her spinal cord was injured, which resulted in a loss of motor function from the waist down. After intense physical therapy, Abigail has been able to regain her ability to walk. However, due to her injury she is unable to participate in the sports she once loved. In High School, she became a team manager of the cross country team to remain involved in sports. Abigail continues to work on her physical therapy. In her Undergraduate studies at Liberty University, she became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and obtained a leadership certificate at the end of the training program. Abigail graduated with her bachelor's degree in Psychology in May of 2021. She is currently attending the University of Lynchburg to get her Masters degree in Counseling. She was recently inducted into Chi Sigma Iota Kappa, a honor society for graduate students in the counseling program. She presented at the VACES graduate student conference in March of 2022.

She graduated with an MSE in Counseling from the University of Lynchburg in spring 2024. Her goal is to counsel as well as advocate for individuals with disabilities like herself.
