As the youngest of four, Meghan spent her childhood traveling to her siblings’ games, awaiting her own turn to compete. She began swimming at four and added soccer, basketball, cross country, and flag football as she got older. Soccer, basketball and running track kept her competitive in high school, while also competing in travel soccer and swimming with her summer team. Athletics shaped her routine, her friendships, and her sense of purpose.

She injured C5-7 while diving at swim practice and learned about SWM while rehabilitating at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. There she returned to the pool and rediscovered her love for swimming. Adaptive therapy showed her that movement was still possible, and swimming became a meaningful part of her recovery. She has spoken at Shepherd Center events, served as the fourth‑floor mayor supporting new patients, and connected with peers facing similar injuries.

She will attend the University of Tennessee in the fall to major in nursing, a career Meghan has wanted “for as long as I can remember.”  Her experiences after the injury deepened her desire to become a nurse who brings positivity and support to patients.
