Angelina Weiers
Running cross country and track, Angelina competed in sprints, relays and hurdles. She was adopted at seven and raised in a military family, moving often, which helped her gain resilience and openness to new places and people, and to stay strong and adaptable. Those experiences helped prepare her for the life-changing event that occurred on May 25, 2025. While riding her bike to work, she was struck by a car traveling 40 miles per hour. The accident left her a quadriplegic and doctors initially gave her only a three‑percent chance of walking again.
Refusing to accept the diagnosis and through determination and intensive rehabilitation, Angelina made remarkable progress and is now walking, continuing to regain strength while adapting to new physical limitations. Her recovery ignited her desire to pursue higher education in social work, with the goal of supporting foster children and spreading hope to others facing difficult circumstances. Her strong work ethic was built through jobs at a fast-food restaurant and a market starting at 16 years old. She has also volunteered at church events and food drives in her community. Her experiences have strengthened her belief in making the best of every circumstance.
