Ben Hulin

"The Swim with Mike scholarship fund has helped me pursue my degree after my injury. My hope is that others will see how I have continued my education and be able to do so as well!"

Born in Michigan, Ben played soccer and basketball and went on to Bob Jones University where he graduated in 2004 with a B.S. in Health Fitness and Recreation and went on to work as an Outdoor Education Instructor. In September of 2006, a motorcycle accident left him a T 5-6 Paraplegic. After 5 weeks of intense inpatient therapy, he refocused his life and his goals and started training at all sorts of sit down sports. Within 7 months he pushed his first half marathon and has since come to excel at push-rim and hand-cycle racing, downhill skiing, and basketball. Ben attended Bethel College in a one-year intense accelerated program to receive his certification in Health and Physical Education graduating in the Fall of 2011. He plans to develop adaptive programs for students in schools.
